In November FMM hosted an AMG Drivers’ Lounge and track day attended by clients and special guests of the Mercedes-Benz high-performance division, who by special arrangement were flown in to the two-day event by helicopters. AMG made available to drive a number of twin-turbocharged 4,0-litre V8-engined supercars – E63, GT and GT C. And to show guests ‘how to do it’ were noted German four-time DTM championship winner Bernd Schneider and Austrian ex-F1 driver and sports car driver Karl Wendlinger, along with South African ace Clint Weston. As well as a guided tour through the museum and its facilities, guests were also taken around the PlaasPad off-road course that was built for the recent world launch of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class pick-up.
