In November, FMM’s slot car group had the final race meeting of the year during which the championship season’s prize giving took place. Races consisted of friendly challenges but were nevertheless highly competitive with Jackie van Wyk having a great night, winning the Formula Carrera category with his Audi RS5 DTM as well as the non-magnetic Formula FMM with his Porsche 917.

FMM Curator Wayne Harley handed out the awards, which for the premier Formula Carrera championship went to Jon Lederle (Audi RS5 DTM), with Mark Venske (BMW M4 DTM) second and Mike Monk (Ford Zakspeed Capri) third. Mark also won the fastest lap of the season prize. Jackie (Alfa Romeo Tipo 33) won the Formula FMM Championship with Andre Loedolff (Porsche 956) second, and Franklin Smit (Ford Mustang) took the Formula Libre title. Jackie and Thys Roux each received a gift for their efforts in setting up the new four-lane track, and Mike was presented with an award for running the championship over the past two years. Mark was unable to attend on the night, but Mike handed over his awards while both were attending the WRX event at Killarney. Wayne also thanked Front-of-house Manager Magdaleen Wepener and her team of helpers for making food and refreshments available throughout the year.

The first race night of the New Year will take place on 5 February 2020.
