07 Feb Ford Model A 1903

On 7 February 1903, Cape Town had hosted the FIRST MOTOR RACING EVENT IN SOUTH AFRICAN HISTORY.
Jack Rose organized this motoring tournament at the Green Point Cycle Track to demonstrate the capabilities of the motor car to the public.
The small car race was won by J. Courtis in his Peugeot and the large car race was won by Donald Menzies in a Panhard. The highest speed of the day was 51 km/h (not much faster than the cycling record set by Jack Rose some 5 years before!).
