29 Nov Visiting Buzz
FMM was one of the many exhibitors at the Killarney Motor Show that was held at the international racing circuit in Cape Town on Sunday 5 November. On the FMM display was a 1915 Ford Model T Depohek, a 1961 Ford Anglia, a 1966 Ford Mustero and a 1993 Alfa Romeo RZ. On hand to meet and greet the many visitors to the display were workshop crew Lorenzo Farella, JP du Plessis, Donny Tarentaal, Wentsley Wicomb and Michael van Graan, together with Assistant Curator Sian Theron. Juliana Bock kept the cars clean and tidy throughout the day.
Over the November 18/19 weekend, there was a frenzy of automotive activity in the Drakenstein Valley. FMM attended the Franschhoek Classic Car Festival and the Wellington Tannery Car Show. On the Saturday, the launch of the Franschhoek Festival entertained the local and visiting public on the pristine lawns of the Huguenot Monument. Some of the stars of the show included FMM’s very own 1930 Bugatti Type 46, along with the Alfa Romeo GTV6 3,0, which was part of the 40 Years Anniversary display of this locally homologated sports car. Amongst others present was an assortment of very special Fords from Atlas Swift Wines, celebrating the 100 Years of Ford in South Africa. On Sunday, a number of automobile club drives embarked on a variety of routes as part of the Cape Classic Toy Drive for charity. This included a stop at Day Two of the Festival and finished at the Tannery Car Show at The Old Tannery complex just outside Wellington.
Finally, on November 26, the Peugeot Car Club arrived en masse to enjoy the museum and its surroundings.
